Holidays

Happy New Year to all!!

What a busy time of year, it seems as if you rush around for months in preparation of one day and then poof, it over just like that. But like many, we have the memories of the day, when our children wake up with anticipation and excitement. Our day started quite relaxed actually. Makayla is only 3 but a mature three. In fact she didnt wake up early, instead she slept in a bit. Upon waking however she proceeded with her morning routine of coming and snuggling in bed with us for a bit, watching one of her many favorite cartoons on PBS. I had time to prepare turkey and get it in the oven. Grandma had time for a coffee and smoke and James had time to roll off the couch.

Downstairs we went, searching to see if the cookies and milk left for the jolly fellow the night before were indeed gone. Without disapoint ment, only crumbs remained. But still it seemed as if our little angel wasnt concerned with the gathering of pretty paper scattered around the family room.

My heart stopped and my throat welled up when I tried to give her the first present and she declined exclaiming...'Grandma first?' Then, not starting on her own present until everyone in the room had one of their own to open. What a pleasure it was to see her having more fun handing the presents out than receiving. Isnt that what its all about??

These past years, Christmas has more meaning that for so long. I have always been touched by the season, family gathering for good food, a few laughs and just sharing. But now, I have my own family to gather and enjoy.

What a day it will be when all the family can share together!!

All the best

An Amazing Day

What an amazing day we had. Yesterday was our opportunity to spend some time with Tara and Eva, Lauris and Paula, for brunch. Paula put on quite a spread, with the highlight being a 'Christmas Morning Wife Saver'. Basically it was a ham and cheese baked sandwich, it was awsome. She also made some sort of hash brown thingy. Where did that woman learn how to cook.

Then it was out to look for a Christmas tree. Tara had gone last year to this place that would take you out to the woods via horse and sleigh. Horses were beautiful, weather was crisp but not unbearable and the trees were plentiful. Well we found a tree, returned back and had some hot apple cider before securing it to the van.

Luanne was concerned that the tree was not going to be big enough....stay tuned for tomorrow to see if she was right or wrong....

Long Day

Been a while I know, but things have been busy. What with the Boys and Girls Club, Basketball three days a week, trying to work, and most of all 3 kids...well lets just say theres never a dull moment.

Today, and part of yesterday, the little girl has had a bad fever and we are trying to control it but things dont always go the way you want. It is off to the clinic tomorrow if this thing doesnt break. I thought it may have earlier today, she soaked pillow cases, pjs and the sheets with so much sweat. Nice little shower and she seemed to be feeling better. But then...frying eggs off her forehead. Now mommy is up in bed with her and I down here on the puter.

Landon on the other hand just steadily chugs along. He has had a head cold now for a few days hard for breathing. We have a hot air mister in his room which is helping him breathe a bit better now.

Tis the cold weather season right?

Done your shopping yet? We are pretty much done, all the kids are done and just a few friends left. Family is pretty much complete and just waiting for Rach to head back to Ontario and carry the gifts like Santa.
Oh ya and what do you think of the boy in blue up there. He can roll over, eat rice cereal and slobber pretty much any bib wet. Thats our boy!!

November 11, 2007

This was the day of the first snow for us here in Halifax and it has been on again off again cold blistery day. This winter may be a bit more difficult on us than last. Makayla just wanted to get out and play, so we went for a walk over to the park until her hands and cheeks were so cold she had to come in for some hot chocolate.
Landon on the other hand, although being a bit better with not quite as bad cough, is still not 100% and still requires a lot more extra work and holding. Today we watched 'SHREK' in preparation for the third installment to be released on Tuesday, and Mak seemed to love it.
This week will be difficult for work as it appears we will be down 2 maybe 3 employees...not to much sleep this week.

Ok gotta go for now, time to get to bed early....

Halloween, Clown style

It is becoming a bit of a tradition. First year for the little man however, and I dont think he really knew what to think. Mind ya, the colorfull face paint can really do a job on a 4 month old... Seriously, Aunty Jenna kept him in good spirits, and Landon cant wait until next year.

Halloween 2007

This year was much more...well lets just say...witchy...The women in my life decided to go out trick 'er' treating as a couple of spell binders. Mom had to head out earlier because the little man needed some 'special' attention. That didnt stop the Rainbow Witch as she would make it to each door, knock ever so sweatly (only 2 knocks) then with here quiet 'inside' voice say "Trick or Treat" and then the ever so important Thank You...and just as quick.....I go to another house daddy???? Then it is the trying to get her to bed, after eating chips, chocolate and a sucker... My goodness what a night. But you know, watching her do that, her wanting to go to each door herself, well that really chokes you up.

Day at the pool

Not that it was the first time at the pool for baby Landon, but it was the first time that we actually remembered to take the camera. He loves the water just like everyone else in this family. He doesnt seem to be afraid at all, and yes papa dunks him under the water. Today mommy was sick so she wasnt able to join us, but that does mean that she could take some pictures. If you want to see more of our day at the pool why not go to our flickr.com website and see me, my dad and my sister swimming around like fish. My brother Justin was at school or he would have been right there beside me too...maybe next time.

New Day

Today was movie day, packed Landon up and headed off to 'Reel Babies' an opportunity for parents with young children to get out of the house and enjoy a movie in an enviornment of their peers. Sure there are crying sometimes screaming babies but it is expected and you know, you really dont hear that much other than the movie. You need to fight with your own feelings of 'oh my baby is to loud and its going to bother others' but in reality, it doesnt and everybody there knows what they came for. If you havent seen this before you would be amazed, the Empire Group really goes out for this day (which is every Wednesday). There are change tables, wipes, diapers, diaper dispencers, swings, play mats, bouncy things, stuffed animals, microwaves, bottle warmers...you name it they have thought of everything. Not to mention the mentality of the staff working, they are very helpful, genuinely interested in helping you get to your seat. It is a real social gathering and as you attend more movies you start seeing the same faces, babies, staff etc. I am usually the only male, well that and Barry a co worker and his daughter but lately I have noticed a few more men showing up. Anyways the movie today was 'We own the Night' it was pretty good, worth seeing if you get the chance.

Thats all for tonight
