First Hair Cut

On Saturday mommy and daddy took me for my first hair cut. I was having a hard time looking at myself in the mirror thru all the hair, so daddy thought we should see a hair stylist. I was so brave and didn't shed a tear. Daddy held me close as Marcie ( The Stylist) cut my hair and gave it to mommy to save...she is so silly that way. After it was all said and done..and after I checked myself out in the mirror a few times..I showed my appreciation with all kinds of smiles...boy did they think I was cute. Everyone had to come over to see me and say hello..and of course I received all kinds of compliments about my new hair do. Just before I left they gave me a certificate stating that "I, Makayla Tomlin, did courageously and with good humour received my first hair cut"...something else for mommy and her scrapbook.

Later that day I went outside in my new shades to catch some rays while daddy was cleaning up the lawn. Of course, more pictures of me were taken!!

Today I went to my swimming lessons again. I was in much better spirits this time. Daddy dunked me 4 times and I still didn't cry or get upset. We sang songs and splashed around, I didn't even swallow any water...ok maybe a little. After I got out of the pool I couldn't stop telling mommy stories about how much fun I had. I can't wait until next week.

Our BIG girl

Well the health nurse, Lee MacDonald, was by yesterday to see how our girl was doing. Lee was quite amazed at how alert she was and how happy and content she is. Makayla is weighing in at 15lbs 10ozs and that is with diaper and undershirt and of course don't forget all that hair. She is measuring just a little over 24 inches, I believe she is going to have daddy's height (seems she will be a tall and slender girl). The nurse also said that she was well proportioned and very solid..and that she loves her cute chubby cheeks. (again one of her daddy's traits)

We have noticed lately that the girl likes to laugh, not little giggles but all out laughs. Once she gets going, we almost swear that she has a little snort happening. She seems to be sleeping through the night (although we shouldn't say that to loud) usually going down around 9:30 and not making a peep until 6 or so, then she has a quick bite to eat and a new bum then back to sleep until 10 or so.

We are quite pleased with how she is progressing, every day is a whole new day. We don't know what to expect....but isn't that the fun of it?

I want some cake Daddy!

One Busy Day

Well it has been one busy day, not to mention the weekend. This was Makayla's baptism day at St. Augustines Church. We had the Godmother Tara (her husband Wilfred and daughter Eva), the Godfather Greg (his girlfriend Jenna), Uncle Ray, Aunt Sue (cousins Ronnie and Josh), Celena and Edward, Heidi and Todd and Jane. Of course Mommy and Daddy and big brother Justin attended. Makayla was very good at the ceremony and had no tears until the very end when she was trying to tell mommy she was hungry.

Back at the house there was a spread of bagels, croissants, fruit and salads. Did I mention the cake? A cake with NO sugar added. There were cards and gifts from everyone - ranging from bibles to figurines.

Also today was Makayla's first swimming lesson. We put on her 'Daddy' approved bathing suit (with no room for skin showing) and took her into the cooler than bath water baby pool. At first she didn't know what to think, but then after splashing around, floating and the singing of a song or two....she figured out that this was NOT her day to be swimming. We took lots of pictures and shot a good video. The only thing you don't get to see on the video is the DRAMATIC DUNKING of the girl...stay tuned you will be sure to see it one of these times.

Now it is 9pm on Sunday evening and the little one is passed out not to mention the big brother who has had a busy day as well.

So until next time...sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite!!!
