6 Months old

Time has gone by fast......Makayla will be 6 months old in three days. She had a doctors appointment today and again the doctor says she is off the chart in height, 27 3/4 inches. She has surpassed the height requirement for her car seat...looks like mommy is going shopping.
Makayla is now drinking juice out of a sipping cup and enjoys tasting mommy's water in a cup. She seems to love all veggies expect yellow wax beans and has had some fruit but does not like bananas. We have not started her on the stage 2 food (6 months) as of yet but plan to soon.
She is a very happy girl, always smiling and laughing, and if you want to see her get really excited all you have to do is turn on the water. She really loves baths, showers, and swimming pools. Makayla is looking forward to going to Uncle Regan and Auntie Sue's house so she can go swimming in her new bathing suit...Sorry Makayla you will have to wait until after our family vacation to Ontario but you will get lots of chances to swim on holidays!!!

Sweet Potatoes

For the last few weeks Makayla has been demonstrating that she wishes to eat more then just rice cereal. She is constantly staring at us while we eat and wants nothing more then to reach out for our food and utensils. We had wanted to wait until she was atleast 5 1/2 months old but it appeared that she was ready now. So at lunch time we brought out the video camera and the digital camera (proud parents or what!) and then decided to dish up a tablespoon of sweet potatoes. Of course the first two spoonfuls she made several funny faces but she still continued to open her mouth for more. We will continue with giving her a little bit each day for lunch and see how that goes.

My First Ponytail

Mommy finally decided to go out and buy me some elastic bands for my hair. Sure, she has used clips and barrettes but I have been waiting for the "pebbles look" for awhile now. I sat very still as mommy put a ponytail in my hair. I have had two haircuts already and I'm sure in a couple weeks I will be due for another.
As you all know I am 5 months old now. I haven't had a chance to be weighed but I'm still off the charts in my height.

My First Babysitter

Mommy and daddy finally decided I was ready to stay with a babysitter. Wednesday June 1 was the big night as they went to the Sarah McLaughlin concert. My Auntie Sue jumped for joy when I chose her to be my first sitter, (I don't want to say baby sitter cause I aint a baby no more!) Anyways, we had a great time, Auntie came over to my house around 3:30 and we played, laughed and joked around. I especially thought she liked how I rolled over for her. After she fed me my supper (cereal) she gave me a bath and I played and splashed with her...that was fun. Now before you go and get any funny ideas, I wasn't going to let this aunt of mine off the hook so easy, I had played the good girl to the hilt...then...it was time to let her have it.

I think she only called mom and dad 3 times, but when I heard that they would come home if I didn't smarten up...I felt bad cause they had been looking forward to this concert for 6 months and heck, I get them to myself alot of the time. So, I smartened up, took my bottle and went off to sleep. Mom and Dad didn't disappoint me, they were there the next morning to smile and sing to me. I had a great time, and cant wait til the next time.....I wonder if I was too good???
