Happy New Year to all!!
What a busy time of year, it seems as if you rush around for months in preparation of one day and then poof, it over just like that. But like many, we have the memories of the day, when our children wake up with anticipation and excitement. Our day started quite relaxed actually. Makayla is only 3 but a mature three. In fact she didnt wake up early, instead she slept in a bit. Upon waking however she proceeded with her morning routine of coming and snuggling in bed with us for a bit, watching one of her many favorite cartoons on PBS. I had time to prepare turkey and get it in the oven. Grandma had time for a coffee and smoke and James had time to roll off the couch.
Downstairs we went, searching to see if the cookies and milk left for the jolly fellow the night before were indeed gone. Without disapoint ment, only crumbs remained. But still it seemed as if our little angel wasnt concerned with the gathering of pretty paper scattered around the family room.
My heart stopped and my throat welled up when I tried to give her the first present and she declined exclaiming...'Grandma first?' Then, not starting on her own present until everyone in the room had one of their own to open. What a pleasure it was to see her having more fun handing the presents out than receiving. Isnt that what its all about??
These past years, Christmas has more meaning that for so long. I have always been touched by the season, family gathering for good food, a few laughs and just sharing. But now, I have my own family to gather and enjoy.
What a day it will be when all the family can share together!!
All the best
